Teaching-Learning Development Grants
The Teaching-Learning Development Grant Program supports innovation in teaching and learning on the ISU campus. Awards are up to $1,500 for individual applicants or $2,000 per team. Deadlines in Fall, Spring and Summer.
Teaching Development Travel Grants
These grants provide financial support for faculty to attend conferences and workshops that emphasize teaching and learning. Awards are up to $300 to supplement expenses covered through other sources. No deadlines – applications accepted anytime before travel commences.
Teaching Community Enhancement Grants
For academic departments, campus units, or campus groups to support events and activities that strengthen the ISU community of teachers. Grants can be used for such things as printing promotional materials, travel expenses for a visiting speaker, books or other materials, rent for a facility for an event, or refreshments for an event. Grants are up to $200. No deadlines – applications accepted anytime before event commences.
Faculty-Student Connections Grants
Faculty-Student Connections Grants provide support for instructors meeting with undergraduate students at informal social events in out-of-class settings. Grants are intended to enhance and support Illinois State’s core value of providing individualized attention. Funds are from the Illinois State University Parent Association Advisory Board (PAAB) with contributions from alumni and parents of current students. Amounts are up to $150 per fiscal year. No deadlines – applications accepted anytime before event commences.
Instructional Podcasting Development Initiative
Podcasting – distributing digital audio or audio/video files to subscribers’ computers or portable music players – is attracting attention among some educators for its potential as a teaching and learning tool. This program offers support to ISU faculty interested in exploring the benefits and drawbacks of instructional podcasting. The goals are to explore how podcasting could be used to enhance teaching and learning and then to share insights with the ISU teaching community. Deadlines in Fall, Spring and Summer.
Instructional Virtual Reality Development Initiative
Virtual reality – computer-generated three-dimensional “space” that supports interaction via avatars – offers intriguing possibilities as a teaching and learning tool. This program offers support to ISU faculty interested in exploring the benefits and drawbacks of instructional virtual reality (including structured “games” and unstructured spaces such as “Second Life”). The goals are to explore how virtual reality could be used to enhance teaching and learning and then to share insights with the ISU teaching community. Deadlines in Fall, Spring and Summer.
